“I’m a UX Master Certified Experience Director with a demonstrated history of helping clients build world-class, frictionless experiences across a wide range of verticals.”

Iterating Ourselves.

As a UX professional, it’s imperative we keep our skills fresh and up-to-date — with a clear understand that everything we have done, are doing right now, or will do in the future…can always be better. The best way to keep sharp is obviously to keep learning so that we may broaden our knowledge, and then put it all into practice as frequently as we can. I’ve been lucky enough to put together our training plan for the past 4 years, ensuring the ongoing education of our employees.

Get UX Certified. #keeplearning

I’m UX Master Certified (by NN/g) with a specialties certifications in Interaction Design, Research, and Management. I’ve also gotten a certification in Accessibility which is increasingly more vital on all form factors. This certification was earned through W3Cx. Plenty more on the horizon as well…just deciding on where to focus my learning efforts at the moment. More to come! For now, take a look at a few of the courses I’ve taken to build out my total skill set and value.

Assessing UX Designs Using Proven Principles.

PURE Method, PURE Method, PURE Method. Yes, there’s plenty of other content here to really dig into; and lots of us would geek out on the more scientific methods…but the simplicity and application of the PURE Method is tough to top. Learning from its creator, Christian Rohrer was invaluable.

Facilitating UX Workshops.

We all need these tools, tips, and tricks. Clients aren’t always on the same page, engaged in the discussion, or even interested in participating. Sarah Gibbons gave us all the things we needed…and a great many things we didn’t know that we needed. I capitalize on the learnings from this class on a regular basis.

Generating Big Ideas with Design Thinking.

You’ve probably heard of Design Thinking. Everyone thinks they are doing it. And even more think they are doing it correctly. This NN/g course really nails it and provides a playbook for success — whether you’re applying the principles in-house or for your clients.

Lean UX and Agile.

I was certainly skeptical when it came to applying lean and agile methodologies to our UX process. Turns out, it’s not so bad. While my current crop of UX project work isn’t operating in an agile methodology, I’m excited to soon merge in with our agile dev team and follow their cadence.

Storytelling to Present UX Work.

Going in to this class I thought “oh this will be great to help us craft presentations.” It certainly did the job there. What I didn’t know was this it also is applicable in almost every aspect of our careers. Whether you’re talking to clients, peers, managers, executives, or developers…you can always use these skills.

And more…

I have completed a few more courses as well: Omnichannel Journeys and Customer Experience, Usability Testing, and Journey Mapping to Understand Customer Needs. I plan to take a few more courses as well, ultimately leading to a Master UX Certification.

And of course there’s always the 20+ years in the IT industry at places like Lockheed Martin, GSI Commerce, and eBay.
